‘Medium’ marks the inaugural stage of a new era for FRACTURES; both musically and personally. It’s a departure from his folk roots, with his sound transforming into an indelible blend of electronic house music and ethereal vocals. Creating a gripping, atmospheric landscape, ‘Medium’ re-invites fans into FRACTURES’ world, after what has been a reflective and transformative few years of experimentation and growth.
On ‘Medium’, FRACTURES explains, “This is about connection. Two people drawn to one another over the course of a night, feeling something deeper, being enveloped by the space they’re in. I wanted the song to feel like you’ve been submerged, almost like you’re in a goo, but it’s a nice goo. You’re safe in it. Safe goo. My first real experimentation affecting my vocal, almost like a different character, set the tone for a few other songs on the album to do something similar”.
FRACTURES is the moniker of Melbournian singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Mark Zito. His full discography has seen incredible support from the likes of triple j, The Guardian and The Fader. After amassing over 40 million streams globally, FRACTURES has been hibernating – perfecting his craft and the next phase of his already celebrated career. The introspective process of the uncertainty within the world was a catalyst for the lyrical content, metaphorically presented through cinematic imagery of environment. As the world opened up, FRACTURESembarked on a songwriting trip in the UK in 2022, and with more travel planned for 2023, his sound has been and will continue to be heavily influenced by the dance music scene in Europe and the UK. Collaboratively he has thrown himself in the deep end, working with various artists including Anjunadeep, one of Europe’s most famed electronic music labels and The Chainsmokers. The fast-rising talent is also signed to Fader Label, alongside the likes of Clairo.
